This is a joint release between the Government of Yukon and Every Student, Every Day Society, Yukon.

Every Student, Every Day, in partnership with the Government of Yukon, is committing $200,000 funding to support student attendance improvement projects for the 2025–26 school year. This funding will continue to support innovative, grassroots projects designed to boost student attendance across northern Canada.

This joint effort will continue supporting educators, schools, community organizations and First Nations in their vital work to help students thrive.

For this year, a new project funding category has been added, to clarify funding around purchasing small kitchen equipment and appliances, and to fill the gap with other funding programs that help schools feed students, maximizing collaboration between Every Student Every Day, Yukon Government and other non-profits.

Applications are now open for the 2025–26 school year. The application form is available on Every Student, Every Day’s website at www.everystudenteveryday.ca and is also distributed by the Department of Education to all Yukon school principals. Projects can be submitted by educators, school administrators, school councils, Yukon First Nations and community groups.

The submission deadline is Friday, March 28, 2025.

The Government of Yukon is proud to continue supporting the Every Student, Every Day initiative, which empowers school communities to develop creative solutions to improve student attendance. With $200,000 available for the 2025–26 school year, including a new category focused on improving school kitchens, I look forward to seeing the meaningful impacts these grassroots projects will bring to Yukon schools.

Jeanie McLean
Minister of Education

“Every Student, Every Day has always been about working together to create opportunities for students to succeed. This year’s $200,000 in funding will continue to drive meaningful grassroots projects focused on improving student attendance. The incredible support from our donors, suppliers and community partners, who continue to rally behind this initiative, has been truly inspiring. While funding has been adjusted this year, we remain committed to helping students thrive and schools, First nations and Communities to champion student attendance for their own communities. We encourage everyone with project ideas to connect with us – we’re excited to see the innovative and impactful solutions that emerge.”

Every Student, Every Day: Empowering Students, Building Futures

Every Student, Every Day is an independent charitable organization that raises awareness and funds to support increased student attendance and success across Yukon and beyond.

Since its establishment in 2012, Every Student, Every Day has raised and distributed over $2,274,086, directly supporting more than 240 grassroots educational projects. These initiatives are designed to help students attend school regularly and succeed in both their learning and their lives. Supporting education remains at the heart of everything we do.

Our work has been made possible through the incredible generosity of all our  sponsors, including Banyan Gold Corp and Air North, Yukon’s Airline, whose in-kind contributions and unwavering support have helped us grow and thrive. We are also grateful to the many private sector and community partners who have joined us over the years in making a difference for Yukon students.

Join us in making a difference—because when students succeed, we all succeed.

President’s message

“In 2012, representatives from Victoria Gold Corp. and the territorial government came together with a shared vision: to help increase student attendance rates in classrooms. From this collaboration, the Every Student, Every Day charitable fund was born, guided by the Victoria Gold Yukon Student Encouragement Society.

Now, more than a decade later, Every Student, Every Day continues to deliver positive, tangible results for students across the territory. While times have changed, and we’ve faced recent challenges, the need to support students has only grown. The transition to Every Student, Every Day as an independent charity marks an exciting new chapter, allowing us to expand our reach and impact.

We know that one of the most basic things a student can do—go to school every day—is also one of the most important. Regular school attendance is critical for improving grades, developing healthy habits, and building a foundation for success in life. By working together as a community, we can ensure that every student has the opportunity to thrive.

On behalf of our volunteer board and the Every Student, Every Day team, I extend my heartfelt thanks to all of our partners and supporters for their ongoing generosity. Your contributions make it possible for us to continue this vital work.

We look forward to another year of meaningful engagement and fundraising. Together, we can help ensure that every student has the resources and encouragement they need to attend school, succeed, and build a brighter future.”

Tara Christie
President, Every Student, Every Day

“As my young daughter continues her school journey, a successful experience in the classroom for her—and for all students—resonates deeply with my family. Supporting increased student attendance through Every Student Every Day is a cause I will always champion.

By encouraging regular school attendance, we are helping Yukon students feel more connected to their community, develop important social skills and friendships, and increase their likelihood of graduating from high school. These are essential steps toward preparing them for a bright future, whether in further education, meaningful careers, or community leadership.

It’s inspiring to see how Every Student Every Day has grown, with the dedication of its volunteers and the generous support of its partners. I am proud to have been part of its founding and remain committed to this important initiative, which truly makes a difference for Yukon students.”

John McConnell
Founder, Every Student Every Day

“Student attendance is one of the most important factors contributing to student success – when students miss school, they miss important learning opportunities. Students who attend school regularly tend to get better grades and practice important work habits that can benefit them throughout their lives. We are proud to have partnered with Every Student, Every Day for the past 10+ years. We have seen that this initiative has a direct impact on regular attendance to help students advance their learning as well as develop healthy work habits and social skills.”
