Every Student, Every Day Fund Opens Applications for 2021-2022 School Year
Whitehorse, Yukon – Every Student, Every Day is pleased to announce its application process to fund projects, which address barriers to regular school attendance in Yukon schools, is now open.
Applications are available online at www.everystudenteveryday.ca and submissions will be accepted until Wednesday, March 10.
Every Student, Every Day, an initiative of the Victoria Gold Yukon Student Encouragement Society, has $150,000 available to directly fund projects, submitted by educators, school administrators, school councils, Yukon First Nations and community groups.
The applications will be reviewed later this Spring and the successful proposals will receive funding for project implementation in the 2021-2022 school year.
Since Every Student, Every Day’s establishment in 2012, the volunteer organization has raised over $1 million to support increased student attendance and has directly funded well over 100 grass-roots projects in almost every Yukon community.
“We know the pandemic is negatively affecting the resiliency of our territory’s students, their families and our school communities,” says Victoria Gold Yukon Student Encouragement Society President Tara Christie.
“This year, more than at any time in our organization’s history, we want to acknowledge what students are facing and support them to stay engaged in their learning so they attend school each day and every day.”
Yukon’s Department of Education distributed the application to all schools and school councils in the territory earlier this week and Christie and her volunteer team will reach out directly to Yukon First Nations to help facilitate greater awareness of the project fund.
“Regular school attendance is influenced by so many factors, which contribute to student’s overall well-being,” continues Christie.
“Now more than ever, we really encourage applicants to reach out and discuss their project ideas or brainstorm how Every Student, Every Day could benefit their school community so we can help support as many Yukon students this year as possible.”
